Hi friends,
It feels a bit unreal to be writing this from 2026. I’ve been in true goblin mode for days — eating leftovers from a dwindling fridge, cleaning out closets, cleaning the house of random craft supplies. I finished a baby blanket I started crocheting 6 years ago. I’ve always been a big believer in the time of year between Christmas and New Year, that soft liminal space where time expands and contracts but also doesn’t exist at all. In years past, I’ve had a plan for that time. There were specific journaling prompts I would do and poems I would read. I had a syllabus I would follow. It was all in the goal of getting clarity about the kind of life I wanted, the kind of work that would make me happy and the kind of ways I would spend my time. This liminal time though was the first year where I didn’t feel like I was stealing time from one thing to dream about another. I don’t have a day job anymore. I’m walking into 2026 with my new business and I’m not rushing from one task to the next in full frustration.
It’s kind of wild. And because I’m not in a general rush, I’ve been able to dream and to settle into the idea of what this year could look like. What a gift.
I have a dear friend who always tells me to bet on myself. So, thank you for being here, for being interested, for coming to a supper club (or to two or three or eight), for forwarding along my little notes to your friends, for helping me in a place where I can bet on myself and give this business, my writing and my dreams a running start.
I appreciate you so much.
This month for supper club I’ll be cooking some favorites from past supper clubs and exploring some new! It’s the first supper club of 2026, I hope I’ll see you there. Check out the menu below 🙂
xo,
Laura
